Fence Repair Cost in Allen, TX: Published Ranges by Type of Damage
These are other publishers’ figures, with their names and dates. They are a starting point for reading a quote, and they are not this site’s prices, because this site sells no fence work.
The Ranges
A 2026 national cost guide puts most fence repairs between $192 and $928, materials and labor together.
HomeAdvisor’s Allen page says straightening a leaning fence averages $200 to $400.

By Fence Material
| Material | Published repair range |
|---|---|
| Wood | $220 to $600 |
| Wrought iron | $300 to $1,067 |
| Chain link | $200 to $567 |
| Vinyl | $225 to $750 |
Home Gnome, same guide.
Wood is the low end because boards and rails are sold everywhere and come off with a pry bar. Iron costs more to repair because the work is cutting, welding and repainting on site.
What Moves a Quote in Allen
Post material
The city’s fence guideline calls for metal posts, 18 inches deep in concrete. Swapping a rotted wooden post for a steel one means a new footing and brackets for the rails, which is more work than driving a stake beside the old post.
How many posts
A repair with one post is a short visit. A repair with eight posts is most of a new fence frame. That is where the two prices on a quote start to converge, and where the repair-or-replace check earns its keep.
Height and style
An 8-foot fence uses longer posts and more lumber than a 6-foot one. Board-on-board uses more pickets per foot than side-by-side because the boards overlap.
Access
Material has to reach the fence line. A back line that can only be reached through a side gate, or a line along a creek or greenbelt, takes longer.
Haul-off, permit and stain
Ask whether removing the old wood, any city permit and stain are in the number or listed separately.

Reading the Quote
A quote you can compare with another has these on it:
- The length being repaired or replaced, in feet.
- The number of posts, their material and depth.
- Picket species and thickness, and the number of rails.
- Gates, counted separately.
- Haul-off, permit and stain, each as its own line or marked included.
- Warranty terms and who to call.
Texas does not issue a state license for general contractors, and this site found no state license for fence builders either. That leaves insurance, a written scope and a written warranty as the things you can check.
Cost Questions
Why are no Allen-only prices listed?
This site found no published price survey limited to Allen fence repairs. HomeAdvisor’s Allen page gives one figure, for straightening a leaning fence. Everything else here is a national range and is labeled that way.
Is a repair quoted by the foot or by the job?
Both happen. The national guide quoted here gives $14 to $48 per linear foot for repairs, and separate per-job ranges by type of damage. Post replacement is commonly priced per post.
Does homeowners insurance pay for a fence blown down in a storm?
That depends on your policy and deductible, and this site cannot tell you what yours covers. Photograph the damage before anything is moved and call your insurer or agent.
Is the estimate free?
That is each contractor’s own policy. Ask when the contractor calls you back.
